Eid Mubarak

Eid Mubarak is a traditional Muslim greeting reserved for use on the festivals of Eid ul-Adha and Eid ul-Fitr. The phrase translates into English as "blessed festival", and can be paraphrased as "may you enjoy a blessed festival". Muslims wish each other Eid Mubarak after performing the Eid prayer. This celebration continues until the end of the day for Eid ul-Fitr (or al-Fitr) and continues a further three days for Eid ul-Adha (or Al-Adha). However, in the social sense people usually celebrate that idfs the Eid ul-Fitr in the same length as Eid ul-Adha, such as family visits, and exchange greetings, such as "Eid Mubarak". It is notable that saying these exact words is a cultural tradition influenced by deep roots of religion; however, it is not part of any religious obligations. Speakers of Arabic might also add "kul 'am wantum bikhair." Which means "[May] you be well every year"

Eid refers to the occasion itself, and Mubarak means 'Blessed'.

Throughout the Muslim world there are numerous other ways of greeting for Eid ul-Adha and Eid ul-Fitr. The Companions of the Islamic prophet Muhammad used to say to each other when they met on Eid ul-Fitr:

Featival of women : teej

The first day of Teej is called Dar Khane Din. On this day the women, both married and unmarried, mainly of Khas ethnicity, assemble at one place, in their finest attire and start dancing and singing devotional songs. Amidst all this, the grand feast takes place. The jollity often goes on till midnight, after which the 24-hour fast starts.

The second day is the fasting day. Some women live without a morsel of food and drops of water while others take liquid and fruit. On this day, they gaily dress and visit a nearby Shiva temple singing and dancing on the way. The Pashupatinath Temple gets the highest number of devotees. At the Shiva temple, women circumambulate the Shiva Linga, the symbol of the lord, offering flowers, sweets and coins. The main puja (religious ceremony) takes place with offerings of flowers, fruits, etc., made to Shiva and Parbati, beseeching them to grant their blessing upon the husband and family. The important part of the puja is the oil lamp which should be alight throughout the night.

The third day of the festival is Rishi Panchami. After the completion of the previous day's puja, women pay homage to various deities and bathe with red mud found on the roots of the sacred datiwan bush, along with its leaves. This act of purification is the final ritual of Teej, after which women are considered absolved from all their sins. The recent years have witnessed an alteration in the rituals, especially concerning the severity, but its essence remains the same.

Teej is celebrated just before the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi. Married women do 24-hour nirjala fasting (without water or fruit) for the wellness of their spouse and their married life

Dr. Baburam Bhattarai elected Prime Minister

Dr. Baburam Bhattarai (57) of UCPN-Maoist has been elected Nepal’s new prime minister by a simple majority in the Legislature-Parliament on Sunday.

In the elections held at the House this afternoon, Dr. Bhattarai garnered 340 votes, while his opponent Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Paudel secured 235 votes only. 575 lawmakers were present in the House today.

Announcing the results, Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang said that Dr. Bhattarai bagged the majority vote in the present 594-member House, which has 601 seats,  to be elected as the new prime minister as per the constitutional provisions and the House regulations.

Talking to the media at his personal residence in Sanepa this evening, the prime minister-elect asked the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML to take part in his cabinet and help make it national consensus government. He said he will work honestly and take part in the promulgation of new constitution and completion of peace process

Jyapu Samaj calls Lalitpur bandh

Normal life in Lalitpur district has been crippled since early Friday morning due to the bandh called by Jyapu Samaj.Jyapu Samaj called Lalitpur bandh today protesting against the murder of Roji Maharjan and demanding action against the guilty.Maharjan was last week murdered by her friend Subash Upreti who hired hitmen to kill her.Transportation has come to a grinding halt and entire market areas, academic institutions have been shut down due to the bandh.Meanwhile, Jyapu Samaj and Newa Samaj took out a rally from various parts of Lalitpur including Gabahal, Damkal Chowk, Pulchowk, Gwarko, Mangalbazaar, Langankhel, against the murder this morning.The agitators vandalised 10 vehciles for defying strike this morning, including a micro bus (Ba 1 Kha 5775) at Kharibot, Balkumari, a private car and two motorcycles in Lagankhel, sources confirmed.
21 year old Maharjan of Jawalakhel was shot in the temple and her body was recovered from a bush near the incident site.

Like most of other Hindu festivals the origin of Raksha-Bandhan can also be traced back to Hindu mythology.King Bali of Pataal was a big devotee of Lord Vishnu. Being happy with his devotion Lord Vishnu granted Bali a wish and Bali asked the God to come to guard his palace. Lord Vishnu couldn’t back out from his words so he did as his devotee wished. Meanwhile Goddess Laxmi got worried when her husband didn’t return home. After she came to know what had happened she made a deal with Bali. She tied a string on his wrist proclaiming him her brother and saying that it would protect Bali from all harm so he can set her husband free”.Especially after girls got married such a tradition helped them keep their bond with their brothers intact”.

What writing mean

Writing, method of human intercommunication by means of arbitrary visual marks forming a system. Writing can be achieved in either limited or full systems, a full system being one that is capable of expressing unambiguously any concept that can be formulated in language.
The separation of the consonant sounds from the vowel sounds, and the separate writing of each. This requires a few more signs but eliminates the ambiguity of having the reader supply the vowels. Alphabetic writing requires the greatest number of signs for a given utterance, but the number of signs required for the system is small enough so that the signs can still be very simple. Because each sign represents a phoneme, the word that is intended by the writer is spelled out explicitly, and no sounds are required to be supplied by the reader.These systems outline the theory and methods of writing, but in actual fact writing systems do not exist in these pure forms. Elements from one type of system are almost always found incorporated in another; an example is the number of logograms used with the modern alphabetic writing system.

Writing systems always tended to be conservative, their origins often being attributed to divine sources. Any change or modification was met with great hesitation, and even today, attempts to reform spelling or eliminate inconsistencies in writing conventions meet with strong resistance. Because of this conservatism major innovations in the structure of a writing system usually occurred when one people borrowed a system from another people. The Akkadians, for example, adapted the syllabic portion of the Sumerian logo-syllabic system to their own language, but retained the logograms, and used them regularly as a type of shorthand. When the Hittites borrowed the system from the Akkadians for their own language, they eliminated most of the polyphonous and homophonous syllabic signs and many of the Sumerian logograms, but used a number of Akkadian syllabic spellings as logograms.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), Florentine artist, one of the great masters of the High Renaissance, celebrated as a painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, and scientist. His profound love of knowledge and research was the keynote of both his artistic and scientific endeavours. His innovations in the field of painting influenced the course of Italian art for more than a century after his death, and his scientific studies—particularly in the fields of anatomy, optics, and hydraulics—anticipated many of the developments of modern science.Leonardo was born on April 15, 1452, in the small town of Vinci, near Florence, in Tuscany. He was the son of a wealthy Florentine notary and a peasant woman. In the mid-1460s the family settled in Florence, where Leonardo was given the best education that Florence, a major intellectual and artistic centre of Italy, could offer. He rapidly advanced socially and intellectually. He was handsome, persuasive in conversation, and a fine musician and improviser. In about 1466 he was apprenticed as a garzone (studio boy) to Andrea del Verrocchio, the leading Florentine painter and sculptor of his day. In Verrocchio’s workshop Leonardo was introduced to many activities, from the painting of altarpieces and panel pictures to the creation of large sculptural projects in marble and bronze. In 1472 he was admitted to the painters’ guild of Florence, and in 1476 he was still considered Verrocchio’s assistant. Hawaii Volcanoes

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, national park on southern Hawaii Island, Hawaii, established in 1916 and covering 927.4 sq km (358.1 sq mi). It contains two active volcanoes, Mauna Loa and Kilauea. Mauna Loa, the world's largest volcanic mass, towers 4,170 m (13,680 ft) above sea level. The walls of its summit crater, Mokuaweoweo, rise to about 180 m (600 ft); eruptions occur here and from the fissures and newer craters that have formed on the slopes of the mountain. Kilauea projects from the eastern slope of Mauna Loa; it rises 1,247 m (4,090 ft) above sea level. The east rift of Kilauea has been erupting continuously for more than 10 years. Kilauea's crater, with an area of more than 10 sq km (4 sq mi), is the largest active volcanic crater in the world. Its vast inner pit, Halemaumau, is sometimes called the “House of Everlasting Fire”. The park's varied landscape includes the Kau Desert on the arid leeward (eastern) slope of Kilauea and a luxuriant tree fern forest on its moist windward (western) slope. Hawaii Volcano Observatory (established 1911) is on the rim of Kilauea Crater. Until 1961, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was combined with Haleakala National Park on Maui Island as Hawaii National Park. In 1987 the park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
