A three-day long Chinese Film Festival kicked-off at Kumari Hall, Kamal Pokhari on July 5. The Founding of A Republic, a movie about how the People’s Republic of China was established was screened on the first day of the festival.
The movie hall was filled up with movie enthusiasts of different sectors including college students and teachers.
Before the screening of the movie, President of World Cultural Net, Deepak Sarkar announced, “Every year we have been organising this festival. This year is the 90th Anniversary of People’s Republic of China. The movie gives a message that we should rather put our nation’s interest first than individual party’s interest.”
Minister for Information and Communication Agni Prasad Sapkota and Ambassador of China to Nepal, Yang Houlan were the chief guests at the event. Houlan said, “We have organised this event with the support of Nepal and Chinese Government. I hope with this festival, our relation will continuously grow and become smooth.”
After watching the movie, Emil Pradhan, studying Master’s of Business Administration at Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM), said, “I was recommended by my Chinese teacher about the film festival. Besides, I also like Chinese movies. The Chinese revolution showcased in the movie reflects the political transition Nepal is going through.”
Yao Yani, Lishou Zhao, and Yang Lu, Chinese teachers at KUSOM were excited about the festival. “We are proud of our history”, said Yani enthusiastically
